An exploration of the relationships of a caterpillar to a butterfly and a girl to a woman and the differences and similarities of how both undergo metamorphosis. There is an ambiguity of the change and what defines a girl's transition to womanhood that can be personal and societal. The butterfly's changing roles in life are defined by particular stages of development and distinguished by the phase of chrysalis where the butterfly comes out able to reproduce and spread its offspring. The robe (both outside and inside) illustrates the connections between insect and human experiences and how one can learn from the other physically and mentally through changing life cycles and memory that navigate the phenomenon of transformation.
