Inspiration for my textile designs comes from my background of music* and dance performance, and connection to different places and cultures. I had the opportunity to live on the Navajo Reservation as a child, and to travel the Silk Road during a gap semester after college graduation. In creating my textiles, I use my RISD experience of translating concepts into forms, materials, textures and colors, and the skills I have cultivated on knitting machinery, looms, silkscreens, and CAD. I apply my observations and ideas about social and ecological injustice, human relationships, and spirituality. I examine sustainability in the textile and apparel industry as the condition of the environment becomes a growing concern for the world.
