The following samples were woven on a Dobby 24 Harness AVL Loom with Weave Point Software.
I am exploring the city of San Francisco in my samples and the relationship between green spaces and concrete, especially the ways in which those textures differ. I find that these interactions are the most interesting around staircases, entrances to homes, and the streets. It is interesting how the landscape of San Francisco requires so many stairs and how some areas of the stairways and concrete are overgrown or surrounded by green. The way that humans begin to navigate travel through vegetation and pre-human manipulated landscape is a point of exploration.
The warp for the samples was made of cotton and wool and the weft structures contained fibers of multiple properties including protein, cellulosic, and synthetic and and are approximately 10 x 10 in.
