Machine knitted dress based on the multiple layers of Bach's "Chaconne" in D Minor for Solo Violin in which tone, mood, intervals, bow stroke, and other techniques were taken into consideration as the main theme transforms through 64 variations. The sections of the musical score correlate with the knitted pieces and where they fall on the body to convey how the music engages the body and surrounds it.
The dress was created on a single bed Silver Reed knitting machine with multiple wools and cellulosic fibers.  I used several techniques to manipulate the three knit pieces to create the garment, including short rowing, vertical gathers, horizontal stitch transfers, knit weaving, and stitch increases and decreases.
